Sample photos of retrofitted flats

If you need temporary housing while waiting for your new flat to be completed, look no further than the flats offered under HDB’s Parenthood Provisional Housing Scheme.

Recent changes have opened up the PPHS to all eligible families, effective from 18 September 2013.  Previously, only married couples comprising two first-timers were eligible, such as Jasinta and Saron.

Now, the following family groups can benefit from the PPHS:

– Married couples consisting of a first-timer and a second-timer (who will continue to enjoy priority in selecting a PPHS flat)
– Divorced or widowed parents with children
– Engaged couples under the Fiancé/Fiancée Scheme

There are other qualifying conditions. For example, PPHS applicants must have booked an uncompleted flat offered in a Build-To-Order (BTO) or Sale of Balance Flats (SBF) exercise. So be sure to look these up on HDB InfoWEB.

Faster application and occupation

Families can apply for the PPHS after they’ve booked a new flat, without having to wait to sign the Agreement of Lease. This means shorter waiting time! 🙂

Furthermore, it can be done online via the HDB InfoWEB, or the e-Kiosks available at HDB Hub/Branches.

After applying, families would be able to select a flat and move in by the following month!

Currently, there are 800 PPHS flats to choose from. They are located in Ang Mo Kio, Bedok, Jurong West and Queenstown. Depending on the flat type and location, the monthly rental fee for these PPHS flats which are retrofitted and in ready-to-move-in condition, start from $800.
