Hands On!

DIY: Transferring an Image onto Canvas!

I am more of a digital hoarder, than someone who prints photos. But there are some travel photos that I have considered turning into unique mementos. Rather than framing them up, I decided to transfer them onto a canvas, and it is surprisingly easy! Read on to see how this is done. 🙂

Items you will need:

  • PVA glue
  • White canvas
  • Printed photo (same dimensions as your canvas)
  • Paint brush
  • Soft sponge
  • Scissors

Use a paintbrush to spread a generous amount of PVA glue on the image – make sure you do not miss any corners!

Paste the paper (the side with the glue) onto the canvas, and use a card to flatten out the image and ensure that there are no air bubbles. Let it dry for 4 hours.

Use a wet sponge to scrub off the paper… but remember to be gentle! Scrubbing too hard will risk removing too much of the image. You can stop when there is no more paper pulp left.

The last optional step is to add another layer of PVA glue over it to ‘seal’ the image. And, you are done! 🙂 Easy, wasn’t it?
