Busking in the sun, and enjoying the sights and sounds of nature with family has to be one of my favourite weekend activities. No matter which part of our sunny island you live in, there are plenty of nature trails around. Here are some of my favourites!

For those who prefer to jog with the cool sea breeze in your hair, Woodlands Waterfront Park offers a sea-nic experience. You can also enjoy an unobstructed and panoramic view of the Straits of Johor from high vantage points and rest shelters along the trail.
The charming coastal park also houses a large playground with a wide range of playscapes for the young ones, and a 1.5km-long waterfront promenade – a perfect spot for recreational activities.
Starting Point: For a good workout, start at the Admiralty West Park Connector at Woodlands Avenue 7, run along Woodlands Avenue 4 and Admiralty Road West, and you will end up at Woodlands Waterfront!
If you are game for an adventure, the Southern Ridges Trail will be an exciting uphill challenge, literally. The trail spans 3 parks in the South of Singapore – Mount Faber Park, Telok Blangah Hill Park, and Kent Ridge Park.

The 10-km trail offers lush forest canopy views. You can even make a pit stop along the Henderson Waves – a wavy, rib-like bridge that stands 36m above Henderson Road.
Starting Point: My usual route starts from the eastern edge of the Southern Ridges to its west. Start from Mount Faber Park and go past the Henderson Waves. Then make your way through Telok Blangah Hill Park, and finish at Canopy Walk in Kent Ridge Park.
Known for its water activities, Bedok Reservoir Park is a familiar name for water sports enthusiasts. But did you know that the park’s 4.3km track, which surrounds the 88-hectare Bedok Reservoir, is equally fantastic for those who prefer clocking short regular runs?
For an adrenaline-pumping finish to your run, try out the aerial tree obstacle course, and fly through 4 giant zip-lines over the Reservoir!
Starting Point: Head to Car Park B at Tampines Avenue 10, and simply make your way to the track. Follow the route, and you will be greeted by the Floating Deck at the mid-point!
If you are someone who prefers a more ‘rustic’ environment for hiking and biking, visit the Singapore Quarry, via the Diary Farm Nature Park.
There are 3 quarries located at the Bukit Batok area, with the Dairy Farm Nature Park being home to the Singapore Quarry wetland. The trails offer a mix of both roads and forest paths, and give a sneak peek into rare species of birds along the way. The viewing deck at the side of the lake also offers shady respite for admiring the beauty of the majestic cliff walls.
Starting Point: Start from Car Park B along Diary Farm Road, and follow the trail to the Singapore Quarry.
Looking to escape from the hectic pace at work? Why not set a date with your friends and jog different trails every other week? You’ll get a different workout with every visit you make. If you are also a photo buff, these nature trails make for some really nice photos too!
