Whiffs That Weave - Mdm Pang's Red Bean Soup

Getting neighbours together to bond over food? That is what Joanne and her neighbours from block 119B of Rivervale Road did for their own cookbook. Mdm Pang shares her healthy red bean soup recipe.

Time needed: 1 hour 30 minutes

Serves: 4 to 6 people



  1. Steam the red beans and Gingko nuts separately and leave them aside.

  2. Boil water in a large pot.

  3. Once the water has boiled, add the steamed red beans and the Gingko nuts and stir well.

  4. Cover the pot and allow the mixture to boil for 10 to 15 minutes. The red beans, Gingko nuts and orange peels should have softened by then.

  5. In a separate bowl dissolve the brown sugar in warm water. Using a sieve, pour in the sugar water into the big pot. Stir the mixture continuously.

  6. Dissolve the potato flour in water at normal temperature. Then, pour it into the big pot and stir the mixture continuously.

  7. The dessert is now ready to be served!
