It’s no laughing matter (unlike what television shows would have you think) if you see water flowing out from the floor trap in the toilet or kitchen. But neither do you need to get into a frenzy, trying to solve the problem.
If you should encounter the above scenario, you may want to attempt the following:
Lift the floor trap grating.
Remove any solid material found inside the floor trap with suitable instruments. Depending on the material that is clogging the pipe, you may also need a drain choke cleaner solution.
If this method doesn’t work, it’s time to call a plumber to clear the choke.
When life (and water flow) goes back to normal, it is good practice to put in place some regular and easy housekeeping habits to prevent a repeat incident.
