Bathroom Wipes

Having grown up in a home environment where I did not have to do any household chore, nothing had quite prepared me for one of the most tiring and time-exhausting tasks of being a homeowner – housework!

While I was fairly familiar with some forms of cleaning during my national service days, I no longer have the ‘luxury’ of time or army mates to pitch in. And when it comes to cleaning the bathroom, that is a challenge all of its own.

Thankfully, after trying to hack it for a while, I finally found some easy ways to keep the bathrooms in my new home clean and fresh. I also discovered how to remove unsightly stains on glass and mirrors without using expensive chemical cleaners. Through research and experimentation, I hit upon some fuss-free cleaning methods using ingredients commonly found in every household.

You no longer need to have one cleaning agent for each part of your bathroom!

Scumless screens

Many new homeowners have installed glass shower screens in the bathroom as they like the modern look and also to prevent water from splashing. However, like them, we only realised later that it was susceptible to soap scum and hard water build-up, resulting in a cloudy-looking glass. πŸ™

While that may not seem that big of an issue, long-term accumulation of soap scum may cause scratches and permanent damage! Thus it is important that we clean the bathroom on a regular basis.

You can hardly see anything through the glass

Instead of using expensive and harmful chemicals for cleaning, you can use the all-powerful baking soda. To begin, simply mix 3 parts baking soda and 1 part water to create a baking soda paste. Scrub the paste on the glass with a non-abrasive sponge, and rinse with vinegar.

Look at how clear it is now!

The baking soda paste can also be used to clean other parts of the bathroom such as walls, sinks, and toilet bowls. Feel free to experiment!

Fogless Mirrors

Fill up a spray bottle with a 50-50 solution of vinegar and water. Spray the mixture onto the glass and wipe with some old newspapers to create a shiny and streak-less mirror.

To enjoy fogless mirrors after a hot shower, simply wipe your mirror with some shaving cream after cleaning it!
